Ringwood/Ringwood North Real Estate Agent

Ringwood, a leafy eastern suburb approximately 25km from Melbourne’s Central Business District is the commercial transport and civic hub for outer eastern Melbourne.

Now benefitting enormously from the arrival of Eastlink (July 2008), Ringwood really began to take shape in the 1880s when the railway line was extended from Camberwell through Ringwood to Lilydale and Ferntree Gully.

Ringwood became the junction of those railway lines and together with the road north to Warrandyte and south to Dandenong, soon became the natural centre for commerce, markets and social activity in the district.

That hub was reinforced by the evolution of Eastland Shopping Centre which has expanded many times since being opened in 1967. Further substantial expansion is currently proposed.

Development in Ringwood North commenced in earnest in the 1960’s and 1970’s as orchards were subdivided to cater for new housing estates. Servicing Ringwood North is its Village Shopping Centre on Warrandyte Road, a wonderful community shopping strip where you can enjoy a leisurely Saturday morning breakfast at a street front café.

Due to Ringwood’s heritage it is able to offer a wide range of housing styles from 1895 workers cottages along Wantirna Road, period homes such as “Rothsaye” (pictured) to traditional post-war weatherboards, villa units and brick veneer homes.

This diversity of housing styles together with access to quality government, independent and church schools has ensured that Ringwood and Ringwood North have been desirable locations for families to reside
