Ringwood East is a well established locality between Ringwood and Croydon on the Lilydale line.

Originally the site of the earliest settlements in the locality due to the antimony mines, brick works and orchards established from the 1870s, it became increasingly settled as a residential area once the railway station was built in the 1920s when the line to Lilydale was electrified.

The locality is anchored by two shopping strips - Railway Avenue and Bedford Road - and is home to the highly regarded Tintern Girls Grammar School with its adjacent farm. Ringwood East is essentially residential with no industry. It has a very strong sense of community, largely founded on the rivalry between its own football and cricket teams and that of Ringwood’s.
