Heathmont is located between Ringwood and Bayswater on the Belgrave Railway line.
Whilst the evolution of the locality started in the 1920s with the construction of the railway station, it was not until after World War II that the orchards and bush gave way to the outward march of suburbia.
Over those years Heathmont has been fortunate to have retained its leafy environment, emphasised by remnant bushland, larger blocks and a relative absence of units.
There is a very strong sense of community within Heathmont with many families choosing to buy and sell homes within the village rather than move out of a very special and somewhat understated part of Melbourne.
Recent statistics from the valuer-general’s office, show median prices as follows:
House Median Price 2009
Heathmont $436,000 (11.1% growth per annum 99-09)
